IN MEMORY

Patrick was apparently a pretty cool guy I never met him  but when we visit him where he's buried  I always wee on him to say hi........dad says I wouldn't have the guts to even sniff him if he was still alive ! The first time I did it both Dad and I are sure we heard a GROWLLLLL!?

He was a real lady's man.......and could get cuddles off ANY woman!!!!

Here Nexi and Molly are having a stand-off over a stick.......Nexi was 12 years old but was still pretty tuff especially when she knows she has me to back her up. I suspect it is probably beneath Mollys dignity to scrap over a mere stick especially when the beach is full of them. Nexi passed away the morning after this photo was taken. 6th Nov 2003

Nexi was a real Dog

This is Boogs' brother Sunny, he only has one eye! When he had his operation a year ago his owner was so worried ...........dad wanted to do it with his swiss army knife but it came out good anyway, I keep telling him if he put a patch over it he would look SO COOL the lady dogs would swoon............... he doesn't seem as preoccupied with the ladies as me however so I guess hes been smacked with that Salamander already! Its turned out that at only 6 Sunny has got a type of cancer; his mum is really upset but he's as happy a pig in poo because they have given him some really cool steroid type drugs that make him lively and happy! The sod won't share them round even though dad asked, cause in light of his behaviour me and dad were keen to try them.

Cornwallis lost Sunny on Queens Birthday Weekend 2003......I will miss him and his cheeky bark telling his mum to "STOP TALKING AND GET ON WITH MY WALK."

This is Nexi's sister Goldie, she may look sweet but shes a bitch, she won't let me inside and attacks me for no reason! She came to Cornwallis with Nexi to live with us and really liked it. Except she still wouldn't let me in the door of my OWN HOUSE!! She was so old and fragile at 18 I reckon if I sneezed on her she'd of fallen over but the stroppy old cow still pushed me off the food bowl! 21st Oct 2003

I won't miss her..........well maybe just a little bit........

This is Orph she was 18 and moved to Cornwallis with us; we have buried her under a Kingfern and I check on her often. She also has a wind chime tied to a Nikau over her, its noisey at night when me and dad are hunting possums behind the house.

OK, I'm prepared to accept that if Skip was a few years younger I POSSIBLY wouldn't be king of the beach; He has the most awesome bark and no matter how much I practice I just can't get my voice that deep. He is part Ridgeback I think his real name is Skippy but it just isn't dignified enough for this old Gentleman. I think hes Cornwallis' oldest resident.

Skippy was a mate and Gentleman to the very end.

This is my neighbor Kaz, she is quite shy and normally only comes round when  I'm not home, I like her and share my food with her if she's hungry; Shes a better guard dog than me and barks at noises in the night .........sometimes I do too........ if I'm awake.

Without Kas I'll have to try and sleep more alertly

This is the only animal I'm not fond of ; her dad Dave is cool.......her names Leo and her eggs are too small to eat and she chews whiskers and mimics mobile phones, and poo's on dad.......

I would like to say something nice about Leo now shes gone........H'mm

The notice on the grocery store window said, “Free to good home, husky mix puppies.”  I turned to three-year-old Mike and asked if he thought we should get a puppy.  Of course he said yes.   It was my lucky day.

The woman at the farm said he should be a forty-to-fifty pound dog like his mother, a racing husky, but in his first year of life, every time I went out into the kitchen he would be lying down, eating.   “Are you eating again, Luke?” I would ask, and he would just grin and wag his tail and belch.  He topped out at a hundred and five.

Luke retired about three years ago.  He just decided one day that he was through going out to the kennel with the other dogs, and from then on he enjoyed staying in the house, warm in the winter and cool in the summer, taking a taste of the great outdoors only when he felt like it.

We teased him about his huge furry feet, like lion paws, and his big bushy squirrel tail, but through thick and thin he was unfailingly good-natured and loyal, a huge and impressive dog with a gentle and quiet nature and a ground-eating stride out in the fields.

Luke is survived by his two younger sisters, Sally and especially Bridget, who dearly loved him, and his pesky younger brother Casey, and will be greatly missed by his owners, Mike Munro and Skye Milliman.  Hope they have lots of dog biscuits in Heaven.

                                                 “Always a Good Dog”

Witch was born on a farm in Waitakere over 13 and a half years ago. Despite her brothers and sisters being only a blur as they ran and tumbled among the hay bales the choice was still easy...................She just sort of chose herself.

She was probably too smart to be a Pedigree Staffy and done obedience work, visited hospitals and travelled huge distances on planes and boats and cars, typical of all Real Staffys however she was always there when a shoulder was necessary for crying or a tear needed licking.

We both know I have always loved you, I am certain you love me in return. It is possibly one of the nicest feelings, I am 100% confident that I could ask anything of you and if it was within your power I would get it..........

               ...............Now and Forever............

                             7th July 2005

This is Skeeter shes a neighbor and being from Cornwallis shes pretty tuff, her owner always has biscuits in his pocket
and she gets one when shes good............I get nothing from my owner unless I'm bad..............I don't care but because dog biscuits aren't real food anyway!

We lost Skeeter on 16th July 2005, she was too young and it was very sad;

She used to snap and growl at me right to the end whenever I sniffed her             'you know where'........but being a real lady she never actually took a piece out of me despite severe provocation .

This is Max, I think he's a Poodle and he's quite old and fragile. He doesn't play much and in this photo he is running really fast to get to his Mum and away from me.
This is Dempsey, hes a Chicken Killer......but my Dad is lethal with rotten grapefruit.......his mum tidy's the changing rooms on the beach and says you people with dogs shouldn't let them in with muddy feet as footprints set hard on the floor and she can't get them out............but that doesn't apply to me cause I'm a good dog!

Dempsey and his Mum and Dad have retired !! They are driving all over the country in a camper.......which is good  news cause his dad used to catch too many of dads fish out of the Harbour.

We lost Dempsey 16th April 2008. He had settled in some place called Waihi; He had chased rabbits over most of NZ and even in his retirement dealt to more than a few of the neighbours chooks when they came on his property. Dad visited just before he went and got a serius cuddle I could smell him when dad got home.

This is Jonte' he's a Springer Spaniel but I think he's Welsh, anyway he is always "sproinging" in the bush to try and flush birds.........he hasn't actually flushed any yet but he just keeps trying. Him and me wrestle a lot, he's wirey and strong which is a wonder cause his mum only feeds him DOG BISCUITS!! This is Wag, he's ball fixated and would do anything to please his owner: He's quite smart and likes to play mind games with me but its pretty one sided.................
This is Sam, he's Lucys Labrador brother, he's got a really good nose and is always trying to get in the bush to hunt; We don't play much but my Dad really likes him .........his owners spent $zillions on a satellite tracking, siren sounding, electric, flashing light collar......I think it had a phone in it......he still gets lost: My dad MADE my collar out of some rope he found on the beach! He is much better behaved than Lucy whom I am trying to get out of the way for the photo.

Lost sam in 2009, I visited him on Waiheke Island and again when he went to  Kaukapakapa, always a laid back guy unlike his sis Lucy, we never raised our voices with each other, sorely missed.
Harvey the Shepard is a local, hes big and hairy and VERY protective when hes got kids with him............he also shows my "good friend" Bella an unwelcome over-familiarity that will lead to her giving him a serious snap any day now, in fact I'm a bit bemused with her behavior regarding him as shes always telling me "size doesn't matter" yet follows him round like she did with that Pizza smelling Italian poofta she had puppies with! Tyson is 16! He lives overlooking the wharf and is President of "The Cornwallis Fishing Club"..........or as dad calls it "the PIG and Whistle" ........whenever we have our weekly club meeting Tyson and his cohorts ridicule and explain in great [if slurred] detail all the mistakes dad and me have made the preceding week while fishing, netting and launching our boats. I reckon if they are so great THEY should be down the beach leading by example!
I thought dad was pretty abstract with his naming of me but "BOOGS" is named after a character in Ali Baba!!!! She has some Staffy in her and her owner said "only two things she wont put up with are sniffing her and trying to take her stick"........................so I stuck my nose up her bum and when she turned to bite me I nipped in and nicked her stick!!! It was her 10th birthday too, dad said I was an "evil tease" but I didn't give the stick back !!! Her owner won't let Sunny or her go out on their boat with their dad because "its too dangerous on the Manukau".............she doesn't seem to mind her husband going however.............  This Mutt's mum wrote disparaging comments in my guest book about the length of my legs........"RUDI" [snigger] is lucky I am not a vindictive sort of guy or I would mention how he gets bashed up by his neighbor Lucy [A GIRL] every time they meet on the beach..........I'm sure he really is quite a tuff dog as he is always trying to "bond" and "get in touch with his emotions" he would make a GREAT "Team Leader"!
This is Liam a Wolf Hound, man he's big! When I was smaller he bit me twice! Once it drew blood and I had to go to the vet but my dad said it was an accident so I didn't rip his legs off..........we are very wary of each other now, but I note he's getting old and us Staffys have good memory's .......I was thinking of showing him my Pedigree....... that would scare the big bugger when he seen who my ancestors were!

Me and Liam were kings of the beach  for 10 years before he left me in charge in 2009
This is Sean, he is 12 and is half Border  so he is not much into playing but is always on the go investigating somthing, he's pretty spoiled and gets a lot of walks on the beach. His mum is getting his cataracts done for $1200!!!.  Dad says he would use me for an anchor on the flounder net before he ever spent that on me.........
